Ahwatukee Living News Archive — May 2005May 19th, 2005, "Co-Pays for Critters Day"To support and to increase awareness about Valley of the Kings Sanctuary & Retreat (www.VOTK.org) - home to 50 rescued large cats and other animals, in Sharon Wisconsin. While visiting Dr. Marlo’s home state of Wisconsin, the Archers were introduced to Valley of the Kings Sanctuary & Retreat, an outfit dedicated to the rescue and refuge of abused, abandoned, injured, and retired exotic animals. Members who support VOTK financially can visit with the lions, tigers, and other animals, and even feed the ferocious felines by hand. Animals are rescued from unethical breeders, unprepared pet owners, and even abandoned zoos. On May 19th, all the client co-payments that were received by Down To Earth Enterprises – Psychological Services were donated to VOTK and patients were given a brochure and a self-addressed, stamped envelope in case they wanted to make their own donations as well. Donations buy food, building and medical supplies, and even toys and comfort items for the giant kitties. For more information, go to www.VOTK.org or mail donations to VOTK at W7593 Townhall Rd.; Sharon, WI 53585-9728. For more information on how you can help or to reach Dr. Marlo, please call 480-705-5007.
