Can You Say Rats?!?

If you have trees bearing fruit that is hollowed out or your pets that get excited or agitated for no visible reasons, chances are you've got roof rats.

Good thing is the summer is approaching, the heat is probably going to keep the rats away.

If there has already been sightings in your neighborhood, here are some preventive measures you can take (provided by Ahwatukee Foothills News).

  • Cut back tree branches away from the roof to minimize mobility.

  • Plug any holes leading into the house; keep in mind roof rats' oily skin allows them to squeeze through holes the size of a nickel.

  • Cut back oleanders or other heavy brush to prevent nesting.

  • Dispose of citrus that has fallen onto the ground.

  • Take away any food source by not leaving out pet food

People always compare us to Scotsdale in some way. Now we have the roof rats. For the record rats aren't so bad.......kinda taste like chicken.
